I found an original Y-Pipe for $85 shipped ... I was considering buying it then have the exhaust guy cut off the Y and connect to the H-pipe ...
Honestly Dan, I wouldn't do it. Your talking about 800-900 degrees. Get it towed or get a y-pipe. Now, if you had headers....
Make some down pipes with those universal flanges........$20-$30 is way cheaper than having it towed......JMO
I'd tow it....that exhaust is way hot. My stock manifolds were in the 490 degree range at idle. Used an infrared thermometer to check my thermostat temps. Handy device.
Yeah ... I have an IR thermometer as well ... they are neat. Thanks for posting that info .. I was wondering what temp they run at. I painted the manifold heat shield using standard engine paint ... I assume that is what Ford used. I'll see how it holds up ...
If you would chance it and it does burn,,,hm,,,AAA is a great thing! Premium members get 4 tows (up to 100 miles) a year free. You may have to tell them car wont start, but they will have it towed to garage. It's just a great deal for anyone who travels. The card is in your name, not the car. If you are with a buddy an his car breaks down, AAA Will cover it! Course it comes off your 4 calls per year. Something to think about.
if you get it up to 140 and then shut it down, you should be able to coast there.. lol in a real nice car like yours, i wouldnt chance it
I don't think I'd chance it either. Too bad you don't live nearby Dan, we could haul it on my trailer.
