    Has anyone ever seen trim that looks like this?Look closely,it shows body color between the trim and the quarter window.Every other Mav/Com I've ever seen/had has had the stainless trim that covers all the way to the window.This is on a '73 LDO Mav..http://mmb.maverick.to/attachment.php?attachmentid=23817&d=1194726370 Also,a couple other oddities;
    I once had a '71 Grabber(complete w/the reflective side stripes,93 in the vin)that did NOT have sport mirrors.Had the sport lamp switch(w/factory wiring)clear lens Grabber grill,spoiler and the hood.Looked like original paint.Thought the mirrors were part of the Grabber package.
    I know of a '72 Grabber(93 in the vin)got the hood,mirrors,spoiler but has the thin moulding along the body line.Owner swears it's original(not original owner though),but I guess the original owner could've had that dealer installed way back when.Car had been painted a time or two.
    What have you seen out there(or maybe you have an oddity)that's not what it's "supposed" to be?

    That is odd. My maverick is an LDO and the trim sure doesn't look like that.

    I've had a few
    My '72 non Grabber has one remote sport mirror on the drivers side, which is original as far as I can tell. The doors are certainly original to the car, and it has the original style "riv nuts" under the mirror. The passenger side had no signs of ever having a mirror installed before I put one there.

    My '73 4dr had a black grabber grille where there should have been a grey grille (it not being a grabber and all) and which the black grille had the factory plastic rivets in it and everything untill i swapped it out for the correct grille...

    My current '73 Grabber is a factory bench seat car, but had the floor support on the driver's side for bucket seats....

    it's a Ford thing.... we wouldnt understand :D lol

    When I ordered my '74 Maverick Grabber new, the drip rail moldings, window frame cap moldings, belt moldings(top of 1/4 panel & door), dual sport mirrors were all standard with the Grabber option. This was also standard with the LDO and on some other models depending on trim level ordered. There were differences through out the years as far as what was "standard" on any Ford car as they re- marketed cars for each new model year. Also working 30 years in an assembly plant, mistakes got by inspection and, stock shortages also played an important roll. They may have built a day/shift/ or a weeks worth of production using the standard mirrors because they could not get the sport mirrors for some reason. It happends. They need to ship the cars it is not a shut down item. Sometimes they install the right stuff at the dealer, sometimes not. Some times special equipment it used for a while and then it is cancelled for some reason. These are special cars that only some people have. This is why you may here, "my car did not come like that" You put that on yourself!

    I have seen that type of trim before. I seem to recall having it on a 1973 Grabber I parted out. The car was painted yellow...but it was painted black between the trim and the rear quarter window instead of body color.

    soooulpower I will try and get a picture, car is under cover (ok hasnt seen daylight in months). You LDO is listed as a 4 door, I believe this is only on a 2 door.

    Two 1973 LDO Mavericks (one 4 Drag one 4 driving like Mad on the roads :) ) also have a 75 6cyl Stock! Ok, well sort of Stock :P
    i have two LDOs one has it, one doesn't. my 73 that was built in 72 is like yours. my 73 that was well, built in 73 has the stainess that goes all the way to the window.

    i think it depens on where it was built and what left over parts they have.

    i might also add my 73 that was built in 72 has a 72 and below dash.

    personally i don't think they are rare i just think ford was cheap!

    My cars hiding from the weather under tarps right now, too. And indeed my car is a 4 door. I get the gist that the ones in question are all 2 doors (I think). Maybe that's the difference. Personally I'm glad mine do go all the way to the windows. Take your time on the pictures, I'm just curious. :)
