Well despite being Chevys.. there are some nice examples out there. Actually for A Chevy the 71 Stingray was pretty sweet, I always thought Ford made a big mistake making the T bird a personal Luxury car rather than a 2 place sports car as it started life. But the one on that Mag cover is just disgusting1

Could it have been a Boss 302 engine swap?

I am certain it was and judging by the magazine it is in. It was probably driven by one of the more poular drag racers of the day and time. But I just think it is funny how people's memories remember things and they will swear to the Holy Ghost that they had a stock Maverick with a Boss 302 when inactuality there was never any such thing and the pure truth is they seen it on a magazine cover back in the day and thought how cool it would be to own one and it just stuck in their head that the one they let get away was just like the one in the magazine... Or they had a friend that had one and in reality they did but they fail to remember that the friend's car was originally a 6 cyl that they put a Boss 302 in their Maverick because they had a cousin that totaled their Boss Mustang and somehow salvaged the engine. You get the point... Just interesting how your memory fades and serve to remember things the way you WANT to remember them and not always the way they really were.

i think the biggest reason for the Boss 302 myth in any car is becuse soooo many people think Boss 302 is just another name for a any ol' 302. like its just some nick name that can be tacked onto the front of 302 and your all the sudden a little cooler lol

I actually DO own one of the rare Boss Comets.
It has the V8 and only two doors. It's also a stripe/scoop delete car with, get this, a BENCH SEAT and column auto! The interior isn't even a GT. A real sleeper.

I know what you're all thinking, "How much would he take for it?".
The answer is zero. It isn't for sale.

yep and every 289 is a 289 high performance. so many people tell me they had a maverick when they were young and it came stock with a 289HP, 4 speed, and 9in.
