    The Story.

I just got done with my divorse and lost my truck and all my money in the process. I simply gave it all up to keep my 6 yr old daughter. I began looking into options I had for a car. I desided that allthough it had been years since i even thought about working on cars or old cars that that was going to be the route i was going to take. I did some looking and was one day from buying a 72 torino off ebay (was my first car) when I had to go fix a dryer plug for my aunt. On my way i seen a yellow maverick grabber that has been sitting there since i was in high school (i am 35 now). I desided after fixing my aunts problem to stop and ask if he wanted to sell it. He said no but i gave him my number anyway. he called me a bit later and said 1200 i could take it. Well i did. I now own a 1971 maverick grabber that is banana yellow that has not been driven in at least 10 or more years. After getting it towed home (none of t wheels would turn) i kinda looked to see what i had. This has 37000 original miles. It has several go fast parts. So every weekend for the last 2 months I have worked on this car. I have replaced: battery, regulator, siliniod, all battery cables, carburator, fuel pump, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, hoses, belts, brake pads, all wheel cilinders, master cylinder, both rear brake lines, fuel line, gas tank, 2 tires. Last night after all the struggles I finally drove it. I drove it about 25 minutes and it died. I LOVED IT! I still much more work to do. but I can taste it now and will not stop. I found out that the fuel pump i bought which is a holley pump is defective so i got to replace it again that is why it died last night. I still need 2 tires, I need to fix passenger door (it won't open???) and have the headliner replaced. Just thhought I would share!

Welcome, and that is a great find. Do you have any pics you could share? We love pics. I hope you have a great time with the car and a better time with your daughter.

About your car, is it a V-8, does it have bucket seats, what color are the stripes with the yellow body, etc.....?

Oh, and you should add your location to you signature, its just nice to see where people are from.

    Welcome to the Madness!

Sounds like you have been bit by the Madness bug and are determined to see this one through. More power to you. These old cars get into your blood. They also drive you crazy sometimes. You have potentially a great little car there.

I went through a divorce 14 years ago. I survived. My son was 7 at the time. He survived. We became best friends in the process. I hope you and your daughter end up the same way.

    Jim
