hey im new to this forum, i dont have a Maverick or a Comet. but i would really like to get one. im just wanting to learn what i can and cant do to one of these vehicles. the biggest question i have is how hard is it to swap in a 351w. i was told that you can do it but you need special headers that are realy expensive.

im doing that swap right now on my 72. gimme a few weeks and i'll let you know lol

tubular automotive headers fit in a stock engine bay but cost 400+ new. im getting a used set

stock exhaust manifolds off a 302 maverick are said to work with 351w swaps too

aside from the header and shock tower clearence its pretty much just like swapping a 302 into a maverick or comet

    good luck

    Welcome aboard Chris!
Why not look at a 347 stroker if you are looking for power? Simple bolt right in, no mods, can buy anything you need anywhere. :)
Whatever you decide though, as long as it's in a Maverick/Comet, it's all good! Good luck with your future project. :)

Welcome to the board. The 351W will bolt right in. Headers are vailable. Just not the easiest to change plugs. In fact it's easier to pull the engine than to change the plugs. I second the 331 or 347 stroker. No mods needed at all. :Welcome:

i was actually thinking about building up a 393 stroker to put into something. this is just a dream project now though, seeing as i dont even have the car yet.

Scan thru the timeslips database and you'll get an idea what the cars will do basically stock and with different mods: http://mmb.maverick.to/timeslips.php?
