The engine I have is a '88 Mustang 5.0 with a '70 front timing cover on it. I need a water pump pulley and a crank pulley. Do I buy them for an '88 or for a '70?

And does anybody have some that I can buy or know where I can get them?

i believe in 65 the crank pulley went from 3 bolts to 4 bolts so make sure its a late model pulley

do you plan on running a serp belt or a v-belt?

serp belt or v-belt setup will make the deciding decision when it comes to pullies. as for the 3 and 4 bolt crank pullies, all 289's had 3 bolt pullies and 302's had 4

BTW, if ur going to run a v-belt i might be able to help with the brackets and pullies :)

that's kinda weird, unless someone changed it (they're balanced the same so they should be interchangable)

you're gonna find out that the 88 motor has a wider harmonic balancer. If you are going to v belt, the water pump pulley is gonna be off. I had to shim mine out i bellieve. pretty sure i redrilled the crank pulley from an early 302. I think someone makes a conversion balancer, it's not cheap though. good luck. serpentine is easier, but I think it's as ugly as hell. Then there's the whole water pump thing......

my engine is an 86 ho , maybe it's the water pump that threw it off?? All I know is it was a pain, as I also had to move the alternator out to to line up...it was fabrication city...
