What was the pressure reading on the guages when you guys checked the charge? You might just be low on freon.

Also you have a R12 system R12 is scarce round here and very expensive. There are R12 alternatives and I have never used them so I cant tell you how reliable they are or you have to convert it over to R134.

R12 is good for leaving oil stains with leaks. The condensor should have a oil stain and likely a bunch of dirt and crap stuck to it.
Convert to 134A is no big deal. Just oil and fittings. Need a shop to evac and fill. Dont release that R12 unless you dont care about our kids and their kids.

    PSSSSSSSSSSSST! Oooops, too late.
Anyways, find someone that knows about air conditioning, instead of just guessing, and wasting money on parts you don't need.

I just got my AC working again. I pressure checked the separator( in heater box), put all new vacumn lines for all the vacumn motors and color coded them according to factory colors, new heater core, new dryer. If the old dryier has been open to the atmosphere, then just junk it as the stuff inside will have absorbed all the moisture from outside. Adapted a Sanyo style compressor to the old bracket for the dr side head. replaced all tensioner pulleys , and had custom lines made. works fantastic and now I drive with 2 windows up at 60 instead of 2 windows down at 60. When you pull the heater box out it is a bear to get out so you might as well replace everything so that its done and hopefully will last another 25-30 years.JMO :thumbs2:

Hey Ron,how can you tell if the A/C is working when it's 12 degrees up there?
I know, you are testing it inside a... heated garage...(y)
