I am trying to get down to a crankshaft pulley and alternator pulley. I got a proform electric water pump for small block 302's that I am trying to install tonight.. This is the problem. The installation instructions suck.

It matches well on the timing chain cover. It has what I need to hook up the lower radiator hose. The old mechanical pump had two outlets on the top. One going into the intake maniold and one to the heater valve. This electric pump does not have outlets on top. So can I jump the heater valve hose into the intake manifold and be done with it? It looks like it is designed for the water to pass though the timing chain cover?

Thanks and please let me know.

you could but i don't think you would have flow throught the heater core.
here is a pic. of my E/W/P, it has an outlet for the heater hose on the bottom (blue AN fitting).
i chose this pump because it had a...heater hose outlet...not all pumps had them.

you can, but like Frank mentioned....no flow to the heater core.
I have mine by-passed. I used to have a hose running from one to the other (by-pass) didn't like the look and got this idea from Lonnie.

Thanks but one more question. I have two outlets on the bottom. I thought it was a convenience thing because it came with a plug. So can I tee the hose from the heater valve and the 90 degree elbow hose on the thermostat housing into the open outlet on the bottom of the pump?

If you look at Frank's pics. He used the "extra" outlet on the pump for his heater core hose and ran the other hose from the intake outlet; is that what your asking???

I couldnt see that in Frankies picture. So he has the hose from the heater valve going to the water pump. Where does the other one go (the elbow from the pump to the thermo housing)? Im confused

From the heater core...one hose goes to the water pump...the other hose goes to the intake manifold just like the factory did.

if the holes are the same size, they are for bottom rad. hose. it's that way so you can run the bottom hose to either side of the rad.
as far as one being used for the heater...i wouldn't think so, it would not move water untill the t-stat opens...same as the bottom rad. hose.

arghhh. You guys are being helpful but I am just not getting it. On the mechanical pump I have two outlets on top, one is a short 90 degree elbow going into the thermostat housing, the other goes to the heater valve. So can I utilize the second outlet on the bottom of the electric pump for heat. If so how do i connect the short 90 degree elbow and the hose from the heater valve............This is what I was thinking..........I connect the short 90 degree hose on the thermostat housing with the heater hose from the heater valve onto a T fiiting then run it down to the second outlet on the electric water pump...will that work?

maybe if we could see a pic. of the bottom of his pump, it would help us help him...some pumps don't have a heater connection...
...Jeff, thanks for the help today. it was nice meeting up with you and Jimmy for lunch at...Baby Janes...:thumbs2:

you no longer have the need for the 90 degree elbow. i was told to drill... 3 small holes in the t-stat...
see the 90 degree fitting on top in the pic? that is one way to run it...(if you have the H/outlet on the bottom.

    ...:yup:...

Frank I have an outlet on the bottom of the new pump. So the hose from the heater core/heater valve goes to that and forget about the 90 degree elbow. So if I forget about the elbow I need to get a new water neck that doesnt have the stub for the elbow hose....right?

I am sorry for all this.I am just trying to understand. Thanks a ton

Yes that is the model number. It has a plug for the side you are not using. But I was hoping to use the battery side to get heat to the core.
