Im just woundering if any one has done this ok. I bought some summit headers just painter and im going to buy so ceramic coating since this is the cheapist way i could find and then off of the header im thinking about going in to a glass pack and come out of the side right before the rear tire the coloector on the header is 3" so i m planing on keeping it the same all the way through any one done this? if so id like to know if it sounds good r not its a 302 by the way im sure that will make a diffrence. thank you.
my glasspacks end right at the axle... if they or you cannot do a simple side exit then you will have a funny looking exhaust bend that will make the car quieter and or "lower power???"
You dont need 3inch exhaust with a stock/mild 302...2 1/2 is what you shoud use. And forget the glasspacks use Dynomax Bullets! ...thats only my opinion and only cause i hate glasspacks lol.
oh i wasnt sure thats just what the colector for the header was so i thought i would just keep it the same all the way hmmm.... shows what i know ha. well the glass pack would go straigt from the header and conect to the glass pack if i could. and im not 100% sure what im going to do im just throwing some ideals out imjust 16 working at pizza hut to build this car so im trying to do it cheap and have a good sound out of it. thanks.
i alrady go more than that into mine with just headers but there full tube and my dad has a friend a town over that owns an exhaust shop so well probably drive it over there and get him to do all the hook up we will just take him the mufflers and exhaust tips i dont know if you still call my car a dual exhaust i think you would there not comming toghether each header has its own pipe so... i just cant wait till i can taking to the local track it should be a blast. but since ill be driving it back and forth to school on occasions i cant tear up the motor even tho ill haveto open it up every once in a while
I bought the painted Hedman Headers for my 71 F100, 460/c6. I stripped the paint off and used the Dupli-color high temp header primer and paint on them. I am real happy with how long it has lasted. It has been about 2 years now and the last I looked there was just a couple of rusted spots. The paint faded out at first but did not peal off after the 1st time I heated them up like I thought they would. lol clint
im going to buy some coating through eastwood they want like 30 some bucks for some but it supposed to be really good.
If I were you I would make sure that the headers fit before you do anything to them. I bought a set of the Summit headers and they did not fit . I took them back and got a set, I can't remember the brand, and they bolted right up.
the hooker 6901's fit pretty well, i think they are somewhat reasonable for none ceramic coated ones, i went with 2.5 inch pipe, with h pipe and 40 series flows dumping infront of rear axle for my 347 stroker.
nice we were thinking about straight pipes glass packs maby something from thrush but i have a while before i have to worrie about that i still have to flip my car on its side and do the under body clean it up and put some roll on or spray on bed liner on the bottom just something to protect it and make it quieter
this is mine i used the summit headers cost me 100$ all together i paid 300 and i had to buy a 75 dollar muff i used flowmasters dual 40's and this was with the c-4 trans now i have a t5 in it and it sounds even a bit better with the t5 than the c-4
That sounds really good im hoping for something like that sound even tho im using an 86 ho im going to try to get my dad to let me use my 74 heads x. is that motor stock or does it have a slight cam?
