Would like to know who has installed a blown Modular 351 in their Maverick/Comet?

What was the donor vehicle and major challenges/issues?

Thoughts on turbo charging the Modular 351?

there is not modular 351 (5.8). the mod motors were 261 (4.6) and 321 (5.3).
now the mod motors are very wide on the top end and tall. to put one in the mav you need to get rid of the shock towers wich is usually accomplished by going to a mustang II suspension. puting a turbo on any motor is pretty cool. turbos are a very efficent way to boost motor output.

    5.3 Mod Motor

Ok, then I am interested in who may have put the Mod 5.3 out of a Lightning or Cobra into their Maverick, etc. Thanks

the 5.4 (my bad on the 5.3 thing) is 4 1/4" wider. that is the motor that is in question here. so 2 1/8" on each side is added. now i just measured the distance between my 302 to the shock towers on my car and get 2 1/2" so it might have a chance of fiting width wise, but the lightning motor is very tall and will stick out the hood. there is no doubt that a lightning or a supercharged cobra motor would be really cool. the mod motors have the spark plugs in the top so you dont have to fight the shock towers to change them. i have a feeling that sence the exhast manifolds will be nearly impossible to fit in with the shock towers, but somebody will probly have tried or researched it enough to know.

Why is the mod motor so much shorter then a 302?
Can you put a T5 behind a mod motor?
What is the difference on power in a SOHC and DOHC?
Would it be easier to just put in a 5.0 with the computer and harness?

If you go with the supercharged 4.6 you will need the gas tank or maybe at least whats in the tank.

You are not thinking about the 351M are you? Some call it a 351 Modified. Some call it a 351 Midland. Some call it a boat anchor. lol I think it was a decent engine that had bad timing sets and restrictive heads. It was a torquey engine though.

Are all the mod motors the P.A.T.[passive anti theft] system? How would you get around that, custom computer, use stock computer/wiring/steering column? I know my pickup with the 4.6 has to have the P.A.T key or it won't do anything but turn over. I have a non P.A.T. key, but it's only good to unlock the doors.

The Mod motor's length had to do with Ford's intention for them fitting in front wheel drive cars. Also due to the bore size (3.5" vs small blocks having a 4" bore)) and this allowed a tighter bore spacing. SOHC = Single Over Head Cam. DOHC = Double Over Head Cam

Phew I thought you were asking about a 351M (modified). Couldnt figure why anyone would build that for a mav.
