ok guys. i got a 1973 maverick 4 door with a 302. so, im having some problems. maybe you guys can help me out. i bought the car with a burnt valve had it fixed. so the day after i got the car back i got to drive it so i drove it to work bout 20 miles away. car ran good smooth i got it up to about 80 to see what she could do. so i'm at work and i got to pull in a parking spot. im idling when i apply just some small amout of gas i hear this loud pow! sound. transmission fluid everywhere. i've been told it could be the transmission lines, or the torque converter. i looked under the car and oil is everywhere i have no idea where to start lol soo help a dudewithamav out with what ya think?

If it was the tranny lines you should be able to see where they are broken or loose. I'd just be guessing, like front pump seal. Can you see where it came out of. Best bet is to wait for PaulS and see what he thinks. He's pretty much the tranny guru here. Good luck.

    A loud pow?
That sounds like someone used fuel line on a cooler line and it ruptured.
Inspect the cooler lines and see if that is what happened. If it is then get about 4-5 quarts of type "F" fluid and some 5/16" cooler hose to replace the bad hose.
Replace the hose then fill the transmission with the engine idling in park to 1/2 way between the ADD and FULL marks on the dipstick.
If it isn't the cooler line then you are probably going to have to pull the transmission to fix the problem.
