they are both chips. his son-in law or daughter drives the blue one. i haven't seen the green one in person but the blue one is a VERY nice car. the louvers are a work of art. i've been waiting for chip to finish the green one for a while. now i just need to see it in person. if i remember right the blue car has a 351 in it and the green one has the 427.
all the cars that chip puts out are top notch.

    Two Comets on Utube

    Hello Ralph:
In response to your question, The cars in the video are both mine and the video is a "cellphone" video that I didn't realize was being taken at the time. The son of of my good friend Alex was a passenger in the Blue 75 Comet while Alex was driving and what you see is a result of what he recorded , and then later on put up on U tube unbenknownst to me or Alex. Anyway , we have a lot of response to this video from all over the country. When the video was shot we were returning from a NPD All Ford show here in Ocala, Florida and we were on the way to my shop to put the cars away when Al pulled up next to me at the light . What you see in the video was both of us "stabbing" it from a light.. I didn't go far as you can see from my brake lights shortly after the initial launch. I just gave it enough to make a point. The other cars belong to my Son in Law (Gold Maverick) and the Silver Maverick is owned and driven by my Daughter. Both have performance engine and drive trains also. The 49 Merc belongs to another good friend that joined us for the show that day. The green Comet is a 74 with a fuel injected World Products 427 small block and an Lentech AOD tranny and a 9"inch 373 equa lock , and the Blue Comet is a 75 with a CHP 347 with Fuel injection and 30 lb. injectors. Both cars have AFR heads, ported manifolds and tuned long tube headers. Both run very well and "I" drive the blue comet . I asked my son in law to drive it to the NPD show when his own Maverick was being worked on . Just for the record in case any one is interested, I DON'T street race . I'm careful how I drive and WHERE I drive . I don't feel I have anything to prove to anyone out there , especially the local Honda Civic with fart-pipes that constantly aggravates me at the stop lights whenever I drive any of my cars. "I" know what my cars will do even if "they" don't and thats enough for me.
I haven't spoke to Jason Miller for a year or so and I can understand that he would think that my family drives my cars. ha. I personally drove the blue comet on Five Hot Rod POWER TOURS , and Alex drove the Black 71' Grabber on five also . I hope to make the SIXTH one with this Green Comet that I just finished. Why don't some of you guys consider joining the tour?
Its an experience that you'd never forget and its a new car show every day for a week straight in six different cities . I highly recommend it to all enthusiasts that could get away for a week. I am going to send an open invitation to all of MCCI members to join a Comet and Maverick Convoy in the first week in June this year. I sincerely would like to meet you guys on one of these tours.
    Chip :)

Cool! That's some pretty cool stuff you are doing with your cars.

BTW, what exactly is a power tour? I've heard the term thrown around but noone ever seems to give me an answer to it.

    Hot rod power tour

    Hi again Ralf:
The power tour is held annually usually in the first week of June and it is about 1500 to 1800 miles from start to finish. THIS Year it begins in Newton , Iowa , then onto Springfield , Illinois , then to another Lunch Break Stop in Southern Illinois (Free BBQs for all participants) , then to a stop in Kentucky , then to Chattanooga , Tennessee, then to Two Stops in Alabama . The last stop will be at the Aircraft Carrier the USS ALABAMA and all "longhaulers" will have their photos taken in front of the Carrier for a gift because they made the entire tour. Usually the drive between each city is about 150 to 300 miles apart . You can leave when YOU want to go , and arrive at the next stop BEFORE the main body , or after , or even during if you're into driving in a loo o o o o n g convoy with flags waving and banners blazing with the lead Trucks and cars. The entire town that is hosting the event at each stop turns out and they line the streets with chairs , couches , Video cameras , cameras , and they even lay down bleach , or water at some of their most cherished locations for the tourers that will " smoke em'" for the troops . Great fun , and there is a lot of camaraderie shown. If you go on the internet and type in HOT ROD POWER TOUR and the year you're interested in like 2009 it will show you a great deal of photos and will completely explain the function of the tours themselves. Once you make one .. you're hooked . The nice thing about the tour is ; you don't have to make the ENTIRE tour .. you can make one stop , or two , or more , or just visit the town where the cars are stopping .. There are usually 2000 cars at each stop including some of the spectators cars which show up and park in their own spots. The cars ON the tour have their own reserved parking areas where they are assured of a parking place at EACH AND EVERY STOP , no matter where.
In 2006 we had three Mavericks , and One Comet on the entire tour and we got a LOT of attention at every stop , and all along the way too. One guy in Indiana actually stopped traffic to take a pictures of the Black Maverick Grabber as he proudly exclaimed that HE TOO owned a Maverick . Its great and the website for the Tours could explain much better than I about its functions . I can only recommend that every one attend. If you're into cars .. this tour is for you. Hope you can make it this year .:) Chip

hey chip, we have moved a few times lately. we are now in Mt Dora. hopefully for a while. I was out of the maverick seen for a while but now am looking for my next project. I want a 70-73 4 door mav or comet, preferably with a 302 and air that is not a rust bucket. i have leads on some but they are all up north and shipping them here would get expensive. Do you know where any are located? Do you still have a cruise night going? I remember seeing that you had something going but i can't remember where or when. i just picked up my daily driver/show car/ tow car 2 weeks ago. it's an all original 1978 mercury marquis in perfect condition. i would try to come meet up with you to see yours and show this one off a little. Good hearing from you again. B.T.W.- i never once believed you were street racing. i know you to well to believe that. not your style!

    Power Tour is a BLAST!

I did segments of them three years in a row ... I will tell you that after three days each year, I was worn out. I don't know how the long-haulers do it.

One of the stops was at Don Garlits Drag Racing Museum. As we were leaving, there was "Big Daddy" out there by the exit, egging us all on to repave his driveway in rubber. :thumbs2::burnout:

I met Chip on the tour ten years ago... in this sea of cars, we were the only Comets at the Daytona Speedway stop. I don't think there were any Mavs either, so naturally, we had to meet each other.

We were all at Silver Springs this year. Chips cars are as nice in person, as you can imagine that they are in the video. :thumbs2:

    Hi again Jason:
I just happen to have a 73 Comet 2 Dr stock rebuilt 302 C4 that I have had in storage for 3 years now .. never got around to doing anything with it (too many irons in the fire) .. If you're interested , give me a call , I'll make you a deal . I don't have time to finish it . Chip
