Did any of the manual transmission Mavericks/Comets come with a clutch safety switch similar to the neutral safety switch on an automatic car?
One of the worst ideas ever, requiring you to push in the clutch to start the engine with a cold, dry thrust bearing.
every stick car ive ever started has ben with the clutch pedal pushed to the floor. i really dont think its a bad idea. the safty factor far out weighs the wear factor in my book.
Guess it's all in how you were taught. If you learned to put the shifter into neutral before turning the key... Been driving stick cars continuously for 40 years, all without "the switch", and never had a problem.
