I got my switch from Green sales last year. It was $10.00 plus shipping. When it arrived I found it to be used but in an original box. I called them to let them know what I had received. They had one left and shipped it to me a week later. It was new in the box. They told me to trash the used one. I did keep it but it seems a little stiffer than the replacement one they sent so Im thinking it was a bad one replaced under warranty at some point. Does anyone have any idea what size screws are used to attach it to the switch panel?

Those defogger switches that you all are speaking about, are they located in the HVAC control panel? I have had those, but, the one on my car is located on the plastic dash extention below and to the left of the emergency brake handle. The style of the knob is quite similiar to the knobs on 1972 Ford trucks and says "defog" above the knob. The switch is 2 position rotary and I was wondering if I can find a replacement or was that just an aftermarket switch I can replace. Thanks Craig.

What you have is dealer added rear defrost. It is a Ford part.

Can I do away with that and do what these guys are doing? Thanks, Craig.

You can customize your Maverick however you want it to be.

If you go with the OEM Rear Defogger switches, that are integral to the Heater/AC controls and Bezel, then you also have to find the Bezel with "R. Defog" built into it, if you want it to look stock.

You can also go with the Dealer added Ford Defogger switch, which is similar to what some of the mustangs had for rear defogger switches.

Craig Selvey went with the Dealer/Ford type of rear defogger switch, that he mounted near his "Sportlamps" switch above his package tray, and his interior looks SPECTACULAR...I know...I've seen it in person with my son.

The number of ways to customize these Mavericks and Comets, with all the different options through the years, are endless, especially if you play with all the different colors that many of the items came in.

I suppose you COULD.....but no real reason to do so.

The car already has the dealer add-on rear defogger switch; it is bad and I was wondering if, since I am going to replace it anyway, I could just place the switch in the HVAC area. Just a thought.

I'm learning as I go and I thought someone had just placed that switch there; I didn't realize that it was a dealer add-on. I think I'll just replace that one. Thanks. Craig.

What makes you think it is the switch that is bad? Could be a fuse, bad wire, etc. Have you narrowed it down to the switch? I just can't see one of those going bad.

I can connect a jumper across the terminals behind the switch and the fan works. I'm guessing the switch is the problem? Thanks for your reply. Craig.

The switch arrived today and it fits, and works, perferctly!!! :)

I added the vendor (Miller Obsolete Parts) ,to the Vendor Links Page. ( I think they sold out of these switches fast )

Here are pics of the switch by itself, and another with it laying in an extra set of Mav heater controls that I had lying around.

The 2 holes in the switch's "L" bracket, line up perfectly with the "raised post", and the screw hole, on the heater controls.

Gosh, that's what I want! I pried my switch apart and discovered the contacts inside are corroded and rusted. Looks like the car sat with the windows up for some time and trapped humidity inside over the years. I'm going to look for one. Craig.
