Lately my car has been rather jerky when i'm giving it gas, it will run smooth when i hold he gas steady but if i try to accelerate it acts jerky and cuts in/out of acceleration it feels, almost like the car is about to run out of gas and it's sucking up just the last. I dont know if it's not getting gas like it should and that's causing the jerkyness or what it is. Any thoughts/ideas?

the fuel filter is cheap. so i would just replace it and see if it helps. if it doesnt then you will need to do some testing. a fuel pressure test gage will tell you if the fuel pressure drops off when the stumbling happens. a weak ignition coil or bad points can cause this also.

Okay, I'll try to get money for a fuel filter, check in a min how much they'll cost around here. Hoping that helps. Also probably picking up a new Mazda truck tomorrow for free, it runs and drives, just doesn't pass DEQ. I worked with the guy and he never touches it and was just gonna scrap it, said i could have it free if i wanted to put the love to get it to pass DEQ. Hope the filter changes it, that was my one and only thought that it could be.

Yeah, $3.49 at autozone, picking it up in the morning (i hope). Anything fancy to do installing it, or anything i should be aware of? I wanna do it myself, but it might be best to have someone come supervise. haha

nah its easy, just couple wrenches for mine. Unhook the fuel line, unscrew the filter put new one in, and rehook fuel line. Took me maybe 5 minutes to replace mine.

That's good, I figured it's pretty self explanatory, not much you can screw up on a fuel filter that i noticed

haha not that ive noticed either, an if anybody could its usually me. So it shouldnt take very long at all. But i put one of those clear plastic filters in also though that way it wont clog the small one in the carb. I dono if anybody else has done it, but i figure since it was cheap to get id might as well do it for extra protection or whatever

ah, well congrats on the graduation haha, and ya i know bout the whole job thing. Ive been applying for all types of jobs for over year now, and havent heard anything back yet. Good luck on the job search. Im kinda doin the same thing, i try an find what money i can to get what i need. Thankfully i know alot of people that dont recycle their cans and bottles and stuff so they give it to me and thats how i get gas money and try an get parts.

Ha, well that's always good! I know a guy that owns a gas station, i'm trying to get ahold of him, turns out he's a pain to catch. Once i get him though i should have a job there for a while. money is money.
