They're fun when you have a five year old son. I do wish they'd limit it to 90's Grand Ams and Camrys, but the cars they crush are just whatever a local junkyard supplies them.

Some junk yards just have no clue what they have.
I still don't like the shows though. I did when I was around 5 though so yeah ...if I had a kid would probably go to them , if I saw a maverick being smashed I would die a little inside though.

Yep, I painted it. It was his idea too, I swear. I gave him a lot of different choices, he insisted on a Maverick. Here's some more pics...

...So yeah, he would be VERY upset about a Maverick getting crushed. I once asked him what he thought about me selling my Mav, and he said "You can sell it IF you buy another one and paint it gray and put black stripes on it. OR, you can sell it to me."

    True enough!

Love the painting and story behind it facelessnumber!

You do realize your going to have to find and fix up a maverick with your kid now right?
    :D

Better get on it before the rest of the world catch's on to how awesome the comet/mavericks really are. And they are impossible to find or afford to own. :bouncy:

Absolutely! I always felt like, because I had to buy my own first car, I valued it more. I took more pride in it. It helped me understand the value of a dollar, of hard work, etc. It's a good lesson for a teenager. BUT - I also thought when I was that age, that if I could afford to buy my kid his first car I should do it. Other kids get that, I didn't, I should be able to provide that for my son...

So the two different sides of that argument going on in my head reached a compromise. I WILL help my son buy his first car. One piece at a time. We're gonna build something together, and yes, most likely a Maverick

Yep. I agree. The boy is a total Hot Wheels addict. He now has two of those display cases on the wall, and could easily fill up two more.

Your a great father, not just saying that. If I ever am so lucky as to be a father one day, I hope I can keep the balance of hard work, and not depriving them myself. I really love how such a thing as a car can bring people together. And aslo be a source of great life lessons from father to son. ;)
