I just replaced the fuel filters and carburetor on my 75 I6 Comet, and when the old carburetor dried out I opened it up to take a look, and there was a good bit of rust dust in it which I can only assume came from the fuel line. So I want to replace it, how would I go about doing this? Just buy the bulk line and cut to fit? Also what type would you guys recommend, steel, aluminum? Thanks for the help.
You might replace the rubber hoses that connect the tank to the hard line, one under the driver's door that connects the two hard lines, and one that connects the hard line to the fuel pump. The one that connects the two hard lines had deteriorated badly on my car and was probably givng off pieces of rubber and could have caused a breakdown on the road if it started to leak. It'll be easy to see the condition of the inside of the hard lines if you replace the rubber connecting hoses.
Thanks for the help everyone! Just to confirm before I order anything, is this the right one? http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=17231 I will also look at the connections Arnold, if they are original, I'm sure they're pretty harsh, thanks!
