There are no bolt on turbo kits that fit a maverick, you'll have to either build everything yourself or go supercharged if you want boost. It will probably fit if you do a mustang 2 front end.
Welcome to the board. A nice stroked 302 , with a good tranny and tires will put you in the mid 12s to mid 11s approx on the strip.All motor only with NO power adders. This would also make a very nice street car too.JMO Post some pics of your project when you can. We all like pics.
Finally got the car home! Only ended up paying $350 so I'm happy, car has 8 point roll cage, ford 9" rear, chassi's been reinforced, and only a small part of the fender needs patched besides that its all just surface rust in very small spots! I took alot of pictures so I'll just post my photobucket - http://s1354.photobucket.com/albums/q691/7servastra7/ The car came with 3 very nice sets of tail lights, 3 grills with lights, 3 extra sets of all the chrome peices, and as you'll see in the pics the factory spoiler. Car is a 5lug with disc brakes all around!
After a couple hours worth of cleaning and looking over the Comet, I've got a pretty good list of what to do / buy. I just picked up a good 351w block for 50$ from a old buddy of mine! The plan is to go with the 427 stroker kit from summit. As the body goes I was wondering.... I'm not exactly a fan of my hood, grill, and bumpers seeing as how the plans are for the small bumpers. I'm not sure what bumper it is, but I would like to use the one I see on alot of mavericks with the two small scoops. Do I have possible trading parts or are alot of people not into the hole big bumper thing.
People do like the big bumpers, but I doubt anyone would trade you a set of small ones for them. The hood you are talking about is a "Grabber" hood, those alone can command good money, but you can buy a carbon fiber one, but still not cheap... Do some reading on the 351 swaps, it's not a straight drop in, but it can be done.
One of the things you can do is to change out the entire Comet front end for a Maverick one. Fenders are the same and you can go looking for a Grabber hood (which wouldn't fit your Comet front end anyway) small front bumper, grill, valence and filler piece
