Had time to play before work, installed my fuel pump. I believe Old Goose was referring to an extra piece of metal attached to the pumps lever. Its attached well and I'm not concerned about it at all.

While the garage heats up, I will post what I accomplished yesterday.

I finally pulled the head out from under the bed and painted it.

    Installed the new lifters.

    Installed the head.

    Installed the power steering bracket.

The next pic is something I had to do to get the bracket to sit right against the block. I'm not sure why it's like this. It seems that the engine hoist bracket was not on this engine originally or I just have it on incorrectly. I can only use 2 of the three bolt holes because the third is blocked by the PS bracket. Also the thickness of the hoist bracket pushes the PS bracket out and will not allow it to lay right against the block. I added washers behind it to bring it out even.

The power steering in my car was whiny and leaked, no surprise. But the power steering in the 76 donor seemed to work well and didn't appear to leak. So I stripped and repainted that pump.

While mocking up belt alignment I realized I was missing an adapter for the damper pulley. I dug it out, stripped and repainted it.

Cleaned up my alternator and checked for fit. The mounting brackets are very different from the 200. Glad I took pics before I tore it apart.

I have a new water pump on order from Rock Auto so I used the old one to help with the alignment of all the parts.

Looking good! Lots of progress to! I like he stripe and paint approach, really makes the build much cleaner! You could probably just take off the engine hoist bracket after you’ve popped it in and install the PS bracket as normal. If you do that, stow it away for alter use, I saw one on ebay the other day for like 60 bucks!

Yeah, I figured they must be a hard to find item. The price was way up there including shipping. Either that or the guy was just over charging, seen allot of that lately too. I saw an emblem for over 200 and then the next guy had exactly the same thing for 35, so go figure.

I would leave that power steering bracket off until you install the motor. Of course, I would also leave the alternator off as well. :D

    Another productive day.

Set the PS pump in place.

Pulled the rocker shaft off the 200, its in real good shape, and installed with original push rods.

Stripped the valve cover from the 200. The ones I have from the 250s have an ugly bracket spot welded to them that I dont need.

Cleaned up and painted the EGR plate and carb, also from the 200. Im going to use that carb for the initial start up and then replace it with a reman for a 250.

Installed valve cover, fuel line coil and such

The aftermath. I see a day of cleaning in my future.

    whats left of the 200

Now would be a good time for an EGR delete.

Well, it kind of is deleted. Its all plugged and I dont hook anything up to it except the pcv hose. I guess I just never thought of looking for an adapter without it.
