I am using an 8" rearend, from a Granada. t5 tranny, and a foxbody driveshaft(because it is perfect length). I need some help getting the rear u joint to work. parts store guys couldn't come up with any thing for sure, I read the one tech article and the guy was using a 9" with a foxbody drive shaft also, but he didn't mention any trouble with the u joint. thanks on a different note does anybody make the 4 square electrical connectors, like the ones for the wiper motor? its like a trailer style plug only square.i only need a pig tail, not a harness
YO YOS don't know what we need. Its a shame that we give them a job just to stand around and push buttons and say sorry we don't carry it. NAPA has everything you need and more. THe joint you need you need to be familiar with whether its 1310-1330 or1350 which I dout but maybe and when you get the right one write it down. Remember everybody's stuff is different and size make sure you know and what you have. If NAPA can't help go to a BIG TRUCK drive line shop thell get you straight GOOD LUCK
THATS right YOU have a good point You need to have all the right measurements. I thought everybody knew that GO Figure FF HAHA
When I did the T-5 swap on my Cougar the local drive line shop fixed me up. It was a Neapco brand U-joint. http://www.neapco.com/
the guys I was dealing with, went right to a book, ask me for both cars and went to work.not like oreilly's or advance with some high school kid that don't know jack. these guys have been selling parts as long as I can remember. I believe they were looking at a moog book. there cheat sheet didn't get them the right measurements.
the mustang u joint size should be a 1330. the granada should be a 1310 big cap. this is where things get complicated. the 1310 usually has a smaller cap and thats what normally is given.
ok so here Is the deal, I called a driveshaft place to see about getting a driveshaft shortened. but the guy asked for my u joint measurements, and ta da! he used 2 joints to get me the right size. it is a 1330-1310 special. he said I would have never got this at a parts store. guy was awesome help he even returned my phone call! and to top it all off he is a ford guy. so $20 versus $150.
What do the numbers 1310, 1320, and 1330 mean? And does the fact that it's an "adapter type" joint make it any less strong?
