well I've been looking into converting to an electronic distributor, but there seems to be about a billion ways to do it and I can't really find what I'm looking for.

I saw the petronix system, what would be the difference between doing that or putting an HEI distributor on it? Also, is there a specific one I need or can I just get one off a later model 302 from a scrap yard?
I'm under the impression its going to make a world of difference converting from a points system. Is this true?

    Thanks!

Yes! No more adjusting and replacing points, and the car will drun a lot better. The Pertronix kit is the easiest, only two wires to hook up, or a billet distributor (MSD, Summit, Accel or many others) is also an easy conversion. The DuraSpark is good, but a bit more difficult to hook up. Good luck!

any system you feel you can handle putting on will be a vast improvement over points.

I personally like the billet distributor option. Clean and easy to install and upgradable in the future. I ran the accel dist until I wanted a rev limiter. So then, I installed the accel 300+ box and coil using the pick up from the billet dist.

Pertronix is quick and easy. Usually has good results and would be my second option if I didn't want to spend the cash on a whole distributor.

Duraspark is a 2-wire hookup also. The extra wires is in the harness going from the box to the distributor.
