Ok so when I'm driving whenever I hit the brakes or turn a corner my "Engine" light appears, and I have no clue why. All my fluids are good. Unless it's a short in the wiring. Any idea? Thanks -Andy
Sounds like your oil pressure is dropping. That is a classic sign. Addition: My old motor did this. When I disconnected the idiot light the problem went away. No actually I installed an oil pressure gauge, and at idle it read pretty close to 0 psi. Old wore-out motor = no oil pressure at idle.
Check your oil. My car did that a while back before I had an oil pressure gauge and it was about quart low.
...this engine light...is it the oil, temp or alt. light??? or is it a light that said...engine?? ...frank...
The problem with considering a short is that it would happen over bumps or with some vibration. The fact that it takes a curve, corner, or G-force motion suggests a fluid motion problem. That fluid being oil.
That IS pretty funny Frank. In this case, we are assuming he is really referring to the 'engine' light.. I'm not sure if it's a year thing, or an option thing, but most Mavericks I have seen just have an 'Engine' light, not separate 'Oil' and 'Temp' lights. My 71 Grabber had both, but I think all of my other clusters just have an 'Engine' light.
Frank, I almost asked the same thing. None of my Mavericks have an "Engine" light, they all have seperate Temp and Oil lights. The postion of the lights changes depending on the year.
