Wecome to the board and congrats on your purchase.

Do not try to use a bolt ... the sharp edges of the threads vibrating against the glass will eventually shatter it.

I just finished replacing mine on the passenger side. There is a rubberized pad that is attched to the track to keep the glass off of the metal track. I went to the local arts and crafts store and bought some self stick felt sheets and ran the entire length of the track.

To replace the window, get a couple of nylon toilet bolts or similar, a small screwdriver, and a nut driver. Drop in the window at an angle and place into the side window guides. Insert the bolts into the track to hold temporarily and then into the window holes. Remove the push pin on the window retainer button and slide the screwdriver into the hole. Remove one bolt and align the window hole with the corresponding hole in the track and hold with one hand. Push the button into the hole using the screwdriver. It snaps in quickly. Do both sides, then after checking for alignment, insert the button pins into a nut driver and insert into the hole in the button head. This whole procedure takes no more than 5 minuts for each window.

You might want to check the side window guides for replacement. You can get these at Auto Krafters for $20 per side. It is a 10 foot roll and cut to fit.

I went to the local auto glass replacement shop and told them what I needed. The guy reached into a drawer and gave me a handfull for free.

I came up with a good fix that will hopefully be a lot stronger than the plastic clips. First I cut two pieces of 5/16 fuel line about 3/8 of an inch long. Then using two 5/16x1 bolts, two rubber washers and two steel washers I bolted everything back together. No glass hits any steel and I am hoping it all stays together. I loctited everything so it should. Time will tell. It was easy and didn't cost me anything. Just the way I like it. Anytime I can replace plastic hardware with steel is a good thing in my eyes. Hopefully this will help someone out.

yeah I tought about it but a friend of mine told me rubber is not gonna be strong enuf. fuel line tend to dry with time and loose strongness so eventually the bolt would toiuch the window and break it! i've not figured out how I will repare this but anyway I got new problems like the heater core leaking.

The car is about 35 years old. stuff wears out. Just persevere and you will get all the problems fixed. I was driving my car, now i have no windows. but I do have a new roof. Just keep at it.
