Maybe is a dumb question.... I'm looking for upgrade my radiator fan for electric one. Currently I have a sensor on top of the intake for the temp gage. Could I hook up a other wire and use a Adjustable Fan Controllersfrom this temp sensor ? or I should have a real dual one? or Fin sensor type is the solution to keep my temp gage. sorry for my english is realy bad
You would need a separate sensor for the fan. Depending on the type of sensor you have now, and the type for the fan controller, you might be able to install a "T" fitting. If both sensors are relatively short on the inside touching the water, you could install the "T" standing up with the sensors on either side. If one was short and the other one longer, such as a mechanical gauge sensor with a capillary tube with a bulb in the water, you could turn the "T" fitting on its side with the capillary tube screwed in the top and the shorter sensor screwed in the side. If both sensors are long, you would need to find another place on the intake manifold or water outlet to install the second sensor. Hope this helps.
It will not work. If your running a 302, you can buy a new thermostat housing that has a threaded hole for a sensor. I think I got mine from NPD.
Jegs has a non-adjustable fan switch that you can hide under you hoses. It is on at 170 degrees. It is just a little black 'pill' with a metal side that you wire tie to the bottom of you thermostat housing or back of your water pump hose nipple. It gets it's temp reading from the metal and is so small that you don't see it. I have used it and it worked great. Was about 17 bux... Dave
If your running a 302, you can buy a new thermostat housing that has a threaded hole for a sensor. Nice solution but I changed my thermostat housing a few week ago... it doesn't have a threaded hole and don't want to make one. Jegs has a non-adjustable fan switch that you can hide under you hoses. Do you have the part number ? I checked on Jeg's web site and I'm not sure which one you talking about.
It is about as big around as a dime. Notice the little black zip tie that comes with it... Now notice the spring retainer with loops... The zip tie goes around the housing, nipple, or hose. Then threads through the loops and this holds the metal face against the heat source. Then the wires can be loomed forward under the hose to your fan relay on the radiator support. It's up to 19 bux nowadays.
Advance Auto has a fully adjustable bulb type over a very wide range for less than $20. It has a 15 amp rating so any current over this amount would have to be buffered by using a 30 amp relay or whatever the needs are for starting current of the fan. The bulb can be placed about any location on the radiator, hoses of manifold but it will also be sensitive to under hood temperatures at shutdown. Being sensitive to underhood temps is not all that bad because it makes the fan vent the motor bay as well as cool the radiator after shutdown for about 5 to 8 minutes depending on the outside ambient. I use this setup on an 10" fan cooled aux trans cooler set to come on at a certain cooler line temp above normal 180° unloaded running when towing a trailer.
I used this once and on my personal application the fan would not kick in till about 190-200 degrees. I ended up putting in a toggle to manually turn the fan on/off.
used one of those once. turned on way too high. have used the moroso one ever since. really cuts on at 170 deg.
Here's what I used: Got it from Mustangs Unlimited, not NPD, although they probably have them too. Then got a Painless thermostat kit.
I'm looking for one of these kit : http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/16-S-BLADE-FAN-2750-CFM-W-ADJUSTABLE-FAN-CONTROL_W0QQitemZ8076617004QQihZ019QQcategoryZ33600QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=PRO%2D67017&N=4294924500+4294838842+400405+115&autoview=sku http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=PRO%2D67015&N=4294924500+4294838842+400405+115&autoview=sku
