My name is Robert, and I am a mavoholic. My dad traded his 70 Chevelle SS396 for my 1970 Maverick Grabber. It is Vermillion with black stripes, rimblow steering wheel, and not much else. Right now its sitting in their backyard, with lots of dust, rust, and fading paint. The motor is locked up tight, and the rearend is dead. Sounds like a nice project, huh? Well, it will be a good project when my wifes 64 comet gets on the road. Hopefully soon. Anybody have a good template for the hood stripes on a 70?? Thanks. 1970grabber
ps. they also have a 76 four door that they still drive, and I am working on picking up a 72 sprint. :bananaman

I am partial to original myself. There arent alot of 70 grabbers outthere anyway, and the ones I see are modified. I can find a 71 or 72 to make fast I think. Thanks for the welcome!

Welcome Robert. The Grabbers are getting harder and harder to come by anymore. If I were in your shoes I'd try to keep it original, but it's your car and only you can decide what you want to do with it. Do you have any pictures you can share with us?

welcome to the board! I voted to restomod it. while a 70 grabber might be rare they aren't really that valuable restored compared to what it cost to get everything back to original. If a Grabber had been a performance package instead of just a decor package I would lean the other way. What does it really take to make a grabber, rear spoiler if it a 70, hood and bucket seats for the 71 72, I know there are door panels and stuff also but.......to get that car back to original it will nickle and dime you to death. Look at Mavaholics Sprint or Dan Starnes Stallion as great examples of keeping a car looking stock like but in restomod form. Just my .02 Ward

I'm all for the original look. But, it's your car. Do with as you wish. I'm sure it will turn out awesome. I just got a 70 Maverick Grabber (vermillion) also. Has a 200 cu in with C-4. Just got a 72 Sprint with a 200 cu in & 3 spd on the floor. I'm going to keep them both original, as I have a 73 Comet 302 cu in I fixed up for racing & cruising. Nice to have the best of both worlds. I'm hanging onto the Sprint for Bill. He & his wife really love the car. Besides, I need to fix up the Grabber for my soon to be wife (she adopted it). Nice to have the other half, enjoy these cars as much as I do. Maybe I can sneak another one home.....LOL

1970Grabber, welcome to the board! :) I say go original, with a few safety mods. Like it was mentioned, you can always buy another to mod out if you like.
