So, in 2000 I started taking my Maverick apart to restore it, I had owned the car for 10 years at that time and it was due to be freshend up. My kids were young, I had just started a new job, life was moving along well, things got busier and busier, the car sat in the garage and became a shelf to pile things on. Well almost 6 years later my kids are older, I have my own business, and the time to work on my car again In the last week I've been going through all the parts I've collected in the past 20 years (yes, I've always had at least one Maverick for the last 20 yrs) and it's amazing all the stuff I have that I've totally forgot about, it's better than Christmas!!! Lots of N.O.S stuff So next step it to figure out what I want to do?? a full restoration or make it a street machine?? Maybe I'll post a few pictures of my car the ways it sits now, alot different than the picture on the club site. It's just nice to be back again!
Good news Dave! I can relate to the "project-on-hold" thing. We bought our 72 Comet GT in '97, drove it for 4 years and it has been off the road approaching 4 now. Since then, a '74 Maverick in drag race form has been added and it soaks up most of the resources - time & money. We should get together once the weather improves. Dave Turner
Dave: Good to hear things are going good for you! What ever you do to your Maverick, don't change that ORANGE interior. Doug
Hey Dave! Your renewed interest in your Mav is good news. I was worried that those Harleys were going to keep you distracted from your car project forever! Welcome back. John B
To Mod or Not to Mod There's a 2001 Mustangs & Fords article where Craig Selvey says, "For these, stock restorations really aren't valuable. Of course there's a few that are like the '72 Sprint and the '76 Stallion; these are two you don't modify." I can see that a guy would keep a Mav stock if it was in GREAT condition in the first place, but if it needs some real effort, I'd Mod it 'till I was broke. Looking forward to seeing the updated pics.
Hey John, I'm down to one Harley so that will give me more time for the car, Maybe some time when I'm in Dover I'll have to pop in and see you
