I was wondering if anyone had any idea if the transmission would fit in the tunnel under the car or not. I know i can modify the crossmember in any way that might be needed but i dont want to waste money on the tranny if there is not even a chance of it fitting.

a 6 speed would be nice if you had the 5.0 modular motor in front of it as the bell housing is integral to this trans and wouldn't bolt to a conventional 302 or 6 cyl

Would it be possible for someone with fabrication skills to make some sort of adapter to connect the bell housing to a 93 302 motor and if so would it be worth it for the $? Also, would it just be a better idea to see if I could get the motor with it? What else would I need from the car to make the motor and trans combo work in my mav?

Edit: I just looked at the motor (its in my uncles wrecked mustang) and I'm not so sure it will fit. My mav isnt here so I can't make any measurements. Anyone know for sure if it will fit?

    is your uncle parting out the Mustang ?? I assume it's a 2011 ???

I'm looking for a Shaker 1000 Headunit and Trunk SUbwoofer setup if he is ... Also looking for The Carbon Fiber looking Dash and Gauge inserts.

You would need to cut the shock towers for the engine to fit ... it's about the same size as a 4.6 which it replaced.

Yes it is a 2011. He is going to be using most of the interior in his '02 GT. He liked the 2011 interior better and is in the process of graphing everything together.

Will the shock towers need to be cutout and and a new front suspension installed or can they just be notched to make a motor of this size work?

    Thx 4 the replies

Also does anyone know about how much the engine and trans are worth? He told me to make him an offer on the transmission so I'm sure if its not gonna be too much $$$ then I can get the motor too.

You will need to swap over to another suspension. I want you to know that you have an opportunity to do something that some of us can only dream about right now..... Well at least till like fifteen years from now when those motors become available cheap.

I bet he would Easily get $6K on eBay for the Engine and Tranny .. maybe more . .. lots of folks waiting to swap them into the 4.6 Mustangs ...

I'll skip on the Dash panels if he is using them. However there is no way he will get the sound system working since it's all CANBUS operated. If he has the Shaker 1000 tell him I am interested in the parts ...

    Thanks ... Dan

I'm not involved in his mustang project and was unaware he wouldn't be using the sound system. How do I tell if it is the one you want? I assume there are different ones and I wouldn't know the difference. I know very little about mustangs.

If he can get that much for the motor then I doubt he would consider anything under 4,000 from me. I have searched the suspension swap to a small extent but it looks costly. Is there anything I could do in the $600-$800 range on the suspension?

No one has answered my original question about the transmission. I don't mind modifying the cross member or the strut towers but I dnt think I have the skills or the wallet to do much more if the engine and transmisson are going to cost so much. A cash shortage is why I was only considering the trans to begin with. After a little research it looks like it will come down to the price of the suspension setup.

    Thx 4 the quick replies.

it would be easier and cheaper to buy a t5 and put it in.

It would take quite a bit of fabrication work to mount an MT-82 to a 302 Engine. The MT-82 is so new that you won't find much info on it ..

However ... The TR3650 used in 2005-2010 Mustang and the TR6060 Used in the GT500 is the same size and uses the same bolt pattern on the bell housing. Maybe you can search the net and find out if anyone has done the swap.

    I personally wouldn't bother trying.

FYI ... Kurgan Racing was able to swap a Coyote 5.0 into a Fox Body ..

I saw one of those engines sell for Ten grand at a swap meet this year It also had Independent throttle bodies. There is a shop putting one in a maverick right now, the build thread is floating on this forum somewhere. And yes a T5 will bolt to the HO.

I had my brother send me some pics from the engine bay of my Mav since I was wondering how the previous owner got the 5.0 in and now I'm worried about the structural integrity of the car. I've only had the it for a little over a week and I havent ever looked closely but the towers have definitely been cut and maybe even moved. It doesn't look solid at all. What should I do? I gave 3,500 for the car and now it looks like ill have to spend atleast another $1,500 to make it safe.
