Alright guys I know this has been discused before but here goes.I just got a maverick, and it is weak in my opinion. It has 3.55 gears C4 with stock converter, and a 302 with a 289 performer intake,a 600 Holley, and a small unknown cam. This is what I have bought for it.....MSD pro billet dis.,MSD 6AL ignition,MSD 8.5 wires.and the Edelbrock power package witch consists of RPM heads cam and intake.also Harland Sharp roller rockers .I have a 2500 stall coming for it also.My question is is there anyone on here running a simalar combo? If so what kinda numbers are you getting and 1/8 th mile times?
Cr? I would find out what compression you have (maybe you know) and find out what the Edelbrock heads will do for that with their compression chambers. You may be able to shave them for higher compression, but then if you have a stock shortblock, the cast pistons may not hold up. I would also at least want ARP rod bolts. If compression is around 9.0 or better, it should be fairly stout for the street with a good tune and properly degreed cam. It sounds like you are putting a good amount of cash into this, I'd go a little farther if this is a non-fresh stock shortblock. Good luck. Seth
sounds like a pretty good combo. do you know what kind of pistons it has and if it is the stock bore. pistons and rods or at least rod bolts would really beef it up. imo
No I don't know ,This is the ToyMav that Mark Grifith built .If anyone knows or can recall the build up he did I would be grateful .I figured I would add all this stuff ,then start a stroker build up and next winter intall it .I just want more power to cruze around this summer, then Next winter install my stroker Nitrouss motor .
I put my brothers G tech meter on it ,and before you all start flaming the G-tech .....it is really close to the real numbers. It said the Mav ran a 9.2 1.8 th mile. Keep in mind my car has fiberglass fenders hood, front and rear valance and bumpers.Installing aluminum heads will shave even more pounds.I am hoping for low 8.s maybe a 7.99 The car has it in it I know it does.Just got to get this stuff on it and tune it.I will keep ya'll posted:bananaman
For not much more than the price of the Edelbrock stuff you can get a Blower, then itll go 7,s all day long. And keep the stuff you already have????
Is that the system that runs off of GPS? I hear good stuff about it. At least good for a decent estimate...Those numbers sound about right compared to my "real world" numbers.
That is why I am asking about blowers... Actually, not. I am not a racer, but I have the Hemi truck, and my wife's Bonneville is blown, and really, there is no comparison to a forced induction vehicle. Even a big ole heavy Bonneville with a blown V6, it really gets up and goes. I want my mav to do the same. Plus, it still gets 30 mpg (the bonneville) if you keep your foot off of it...
Well,I have had the edelbrock power package on a mustang and loved it . So I will start with the package on the Mav and work my way up to a blower. In the next year or so ,I am leaning towards a nitrous setup also .I have had good luck with the spray. We'll see how the motor turns out this year.
well got it together and running.Just need to get it all cleaned up and tuned ,here are a few pictures of the motor. It got new forged pistons and H beam rods with ARP bolts.I plan on spraying it ,then in the next year or so putting a blower on it.Sorry for the Camera phone pics
I was running mid 8s with a stock block, mild cam, stock heads, headers, Edelbrock 4 bbl, 3:55 posi rear and 3500 stall tc. With the aluminum heads and basiclly the same setup, you ought to run low 8s or high 7s, I would think. I'm hoping so for myself anyway. Best phone pics I've ever seen. Nice looking engine too!
I got one question for you guys,The carb I have on it is a 080457 Holley 600 cfm. I am thinking of replaceing it with the 670 street avenger .I will be putting Nitrous on it this summer. Has anyone run that carb and do you think in is a good choice?
