I was recently at the junk yard and found what I do believe is a Stallion steering wheel in the trunk of a tempo. It has the Stallion Horse in black and orange in the middle with a silver plastic outer edge and fake black plastic allen head screws, three bars that extend from the middle of the wheel to the outer soft foam hand grip. The bars have sloted holes like a grant steering wheel would. The guy told me that it came out of a truck, but I thought it looked just a little too sporty to have come in a truck. Any one out there that knows what this came out of please reply. Im pretty sure this didnt come in the Stallion Maverick but maybe in the pinto or mustang.? I will be posting a picture later on today
It's probably from a Pinto of Mustang II, and they came in a lot of those cars, not just stallions. Not very rare, but a good wheel for a Maverick.
I agree with Charlie, this topic has come up before. They look like nice steering wheels for the Maverick! I would keep it.

Okay, I finally got myself one of these. The leather is in BAD shape though, and will be expensive to have redone. Now, HOW do you guys attach the round Maverick emblem? It's just a tiny bit too small as there is a 1/8" gap all the way around the outter edge...
Been there, discussed that. This has been discussed here before. Some of the cars that those wheels came on had the horn on the turn signal lever-push in to blow. Thus, the centers didn't operate the horn. Other models had the operable horn button in the center. Some have stated here that several years of this wheel would not cancel the turn signal. I have seen these wheels priced from $5-$150 at car show flea markets. I would say good find! Seth

You got one helluva deal, 76. They go for upward of $100 and on eBay recently, sell for much more. This style of wheel was optional on F-Series trucks from the late '70 and are much sought after by owners. I have one myself on my '91 F-150 and it really sets off the interior. They made several styles of inserts in the horn cap. I have two others here, one that needs some refinishing on the spokes and another one missing the horn cap. Just finding the horn cap is a quest. Deteriorating leather is a common problem with these wheels depending on how they were stored. I'd like to find someone who can cheaply re-wrap them myself. The comment about there being two different wheels is correct. They made the same style wheel, most commonly with black spokes, for the Fox platform cars with the horn in the turn signal stalk. You have to be very careful buying these wheels sight unseen that you do not buy one of these wheels as they will fit on a Mav but the horn won't work. I found this out the hard way myself and have one that is beautiful, but useless to me.
As I learned (with the help of Craig), it needs to be a '74-'77 to work on out cars (horn button and turn signal canceling). '79 and later are also not leather-wrapped and not as thick. Now anyone gonna tell me how to graft the Maverick emblem to the center??... :confused:
I just glued mine in there. You are right it doesn't fill the whole center but if the chrome ring around it is in good shape then its just chrome with a little black on the outside, I thought it looked fine that way.
