Ok, thats just plain awesome!!! I want to do the same exact thing to my car but with 355s. IF you wouldn't mind, could you explain how you did it? I really want to do this this spring after wrestling season and i need to know exactly how to do it. I searched how and i get confused, but if theres a post on how to do it right, itd be a huge help. I had my friends shop do most of it but its not super hard. I stuck with modern 5.0 size (10.5 inch) steel flywheel and clutch,(balanced for 28.2 oz motor of course) so the stock 5.0 bellhousing can be used. I tried to use a scatter shield but it wouldnt clear the full length headders. I mentioned the custom tranny crossmember already. I used a cable clutch conversion kit made for old Mustangs that are switching to T-5s (Common swap) He had to modify it alittle to make it work. Nothing serious just had to figure out how to route it through the engine bay. We had headder issues again with the cable, It comes very close to the collector, so we made a heat shield for now untill we can fab a bracket to hold it away. If you run shortys you shouldnt have this problem. A Fun fact that I learned from Charlie Ping (might be wrong last name) is that an 82-93 V-8 5.0 mustang drive-shaft is a direct fit if you use a 9" rear (I do) I think it will fit an 8" too but I already had the 9" in so I might be wrong.. I am using one untill I can afford the aluminum unit. I had to change the rear U-joints to mate it to the 9" yoke. It was EASY to get the right U-joints from a local drive line shop they carry them in stock. Just take measurements. Hope that helps-Aaron
What all had to be done to get the clutch working? did you use the stang setup or did you use a mav setup as far as pedals goes or was it all a part of the kit? thanks for the info -Todd
Todd- I used a Maverick clutch pedal set up. That was the biggest pain in the ass of the whole conversion, Finding a pedal assembly was a bitch but a guy on this site sold me a set. Just post messages on the Mav sites saying your looking for some and you will probably get lucky after a while. I picked mine up for $65 delivered. I was supposed to get two sets but the other set never showed up. I paid $65 to that guy too. I wanted a back up set. All you really need is the pedals as they will slide onto your auto set. You could even cut your wide brake pedal down to size and not even have to remove it. I used the standard Mustang 5.0 clutch fork witch in hind site I think was a mistake. It works fine but the pedal effort is very heavy. I wouldnt even consider letting my girlfriend drive it without proof she could handle it. I would reccomend geting the extended fork that Anderson Ford Motorsport sells. It reduces the effort considerably, according to Rick. He tried to get me to buy one but I forgot and now will have super human strength in my left leg! The fork costs $89. Good luck-Aaron
Ok so you used a Mustang clutch conversion kit and a stock manual linkage Mav pedal right? I may go this route only using a tremec instead of a T5 if thats all there is to it. Overdrive sure must be sweet. AC
Overdrive is wonderfull! I will swap to a TR-600 eventually. It has a .64 (T-5 is .68) overdrive. And a more friendly 1st gear 2.87 vs 3.35 (3.35 is too much)
69GT,I would be interested in knowing if your friend could make up another cross member.I was told I could just slot the holes in the stock one but that would also mean I`d have to beat out or modify the trans tunnel which I do not want to do.The crossmember is one of the last things I need so please let me know what you can do,thanks.
I will let him know as soon as I see him. He might need to take measurements from mine since it's the onely one but that shouldnt be a problem. I should see him in the next few days.
Would you mind posting a few pictures and critical measurements of your crossmember? That would make fabbing one of those up a breeze.

Ford Racing sells a clutch set up (10.5") that uses 10% less clutch effort. Ford Racing Part #M-7563-C302 or the "lightened" version #M-7563_D302 I've that Ford Racing stuff is also slightly cheaper through Summit.
