On my 70 Mav drum brakes all around, I have replaced shoes, wheel cylinders, master cylinder, brake lines. The only thing I have not replaced is the hydraulic brake lines in the front. The problem I am having is the right front brake is grabbing so hard it wants to skid and sometimes does. I have tried adjusting everything but it doesn't help. So a buddy of mine said it might be the hydraulic line collapsing. So I set out to buy some and I cannot find them anywhere. I have 2 questions. Does it sound like it could be the hydraulic brake lines? If so, where can I buy the new for a 1970. I have found them for 71 but no 70. Any guidance would be appreciated.:hmmm:

Nobody makes them for a 1970.

    Have the drums been turned?

i have had old hardware kits cause that.
on front drums its very important to have every thing equal on both sides. the drums need to be the same diameter, the shoes need to be equally adjusted and the springs need to have the same tension.

it would be safe to assume that both wheel cylinders bleed easily or that would have been mentioned. that tells me that the brake hose should not be the problem.
could it be possible that one of the wheel cylinder diameters is bigger than the other. i would think the right side would be smaller if thats acting faster than the left side. that would be an easy mistake to happen at in the parts supply chain.

Old rubber brake hoses will swell under pressure. Someone posted a part number for a replacement about a year ago, I think it was a 69 or 70 Falcon part. Best I can remember the mounting tab didn't come one this replacement. I'm sure a tab could be made to support the hose.

if you are ever planning on going fast in the future...a Disc. brake swap is the way to go...:yup:
I rebuilt my front drum system and never could trust it would pull twice in the same direction...what made it really fun was the play in the power steering.

I hate to admit I did this, butI installed the shoes backwards and that was the result. Maybe that happened by accident on that side. Just a thought and easy to check

Edit: to clarify, I had the short side of the upper shoe facing the wrong direction.

I haven't had drum brakes on anything that I have owned for years but could your shoes be on backwards? There is a short and a long shoe and they have to be in the correct location so when you back up and hit your drum brakes self adjust

You really need to have those turned to make sure they are truly "round". Even brand new ones need turned.

    The '70 part # are D0DZ-2078-E for RH & D0DZ-2078-F for LH... These are 12 3/4" ...

The '71 uses C7OZ-2078-A for both sides which is 12 5/8" and used on all Fairlane, Torino, Falcon, etc with drums from '67 - '71... As already mentioned something has to be different or they'd be listed as repl for '70...
