I have a 77 Maverick 4 dr. And i want to know if i can put other car parts on it..

    1. Can you use 1991 Mustang wheels on it?
    2. Can yo put the 5.0 in it and how hard is it?
    3. Whats the main thing that goes out at over 100,000 miles?

    Thanks,

The Mustang wheels do not fit with out adapters. The 4 lug are a different bolt circle all together and both the 4 & 5 wheels have too much backspacing. The 5.0 is a 302 block and will bolt right in. It takes some doing to get the EFI to work if you want to go that route. As far as how hard it is, thats up to you. For some, its a piece of cake and for others, they wouldnt attempt it. Just depends on your skill levels.

I tried to fit early Mustang wheels on my '76 and the problem was the front hubs were a wider diameter than the Mustang and wouldn't fit. For any wheels to fit, you have to make sure that the bolt pattern is the same and the front hub will be accepted by the wheels with disc brakes as well as backspacing.

Ditto on the engine swap. You might want to talk to MavMark about an EFI swap. He did the 5.0 EFI on his Mav.

Ok so the wheels will not fit? Got that. Now my grandpa has a 5.0 HO motor sitting in his yard so i might just put that in with some upgrades. Now can i find a exhaust system (dual) or do i haev to make my own?

    Thanks

    Steve

You`ll prolly need to have an exhaust shop make up the exhaust system for ya. If you already have a 302 or even a 250 the 5.0 swap is very easy.

You can`t use the 5.0 exhaust manifolds/headers or the oil pan. I forgot about that :slap: .

You also have to get a fuel pump eccentric to put on the cam if you go carbureted and run a mechanical fuel pump...which means you'll have to change the front cover, because and FI engine usually doesn't have a place for it.If you run regular v-belt pullies, make sure to use a standard rotation water pump,5.0's from mustangs use a reverse rotation pump because of the serpentine pulley setup. You need a front sump oil pan, mustang headers(fox mustang)will dump right on top of the steering box,but headers are made for mavs.Have fun(y)
