Sounds like a possible problem with the timing advance to me. PV should be a 6.5 for most applications too. The black sec spring is the heaviest, with that combo, if tuned right and the timing advance where it should be, should be able to handle a purple sec spring without doing anything to the accellerator pump circuit/ You mentioned nothing about where the timing settings are at, other than you put a kit in the advance mechaism.
i do belevie it is the advance curve as well. and i diddnt say what my timing numbers are because i did vacuum gauge timing and haven't put a light to it yet to check. also i don't know what the pro form advance is, i couldn't find it. all i know is that when i added the pro form it made a huge difference. i wish i had some numbers for that though
okay so i took out the accel weights and put the stock ones back in. i left the lighter springs in though. adjusted the timing with a vacuum gauge again. it ran much better but when you step on it it'd spit out the carb and stutter. so i took out the black spring in the carb and put in the yellow (lightest) spring again and boom no stutter. now did that fix the problem or did i just cover it up by adding the secondaries at lower rpms? does it sound like i should look at my fuel delivery still?
You need to get a timing light and see where your at right now with your timing settings......base timing....all in....rpm the mechanical advance comes in or..................... If its working good the way it is leave it alone lol
Did you check the accelerator pump linkage for excessive slack ? Does that distributor have a vacuum advance ? If it does and it's not functioning, that too will cause it to hiccup when you nail the pedal.
lol i was gonna leave it alone but id always feel like I'm missing out on a little more performance haha. so ill get the light on it and see whats up
i got the pump linkage pretty perfect... only thing I'm not 100% on is float level so I'm gonna check that too
So i had a 30 degree initial timing.... Unplugged the vac advance of course an put the light on it and it read over 30 degrees. So i put it down to 18 and it is now stuttering when you step on it again.... I'm kind of Stumped now
Sounds like the balancer's outer ring has slipped if you have to advance it that far to get it to run.
