My very clean, all original 1970 Maverick has a leak... Somewhere. I have no idea where though. Other day I got caught in the rain. I go to stop at a stop sign, and the momentum of stopping forced a lot of water into my front passenger floor board as well as the dash tray under the dashboard. The windshield looks all sealed. There's almost no rust on the car. None under the hood or in the cowl as far as I can see. I've gotten under the dash in the car and can't see anything that would cause it. All the insulation under the dash was also dry. I'm very confused.
Sounds like the cowl was holding water from the drains being blocked and when you hit the brakes the water came down into the vents to the floor - I'm not sure if you can get to your cowl drains without taking off the fenders but the need to be cleared out if they are blocked
So, what's the best way to clean those drains out? If that's my only problem, I'm going to be very happy.
You can get to them and clean them out by removing the plastic splash panel behind the tire. It won't be easy...but it can be done.
