hello to all not long ago i purchased a 71 grabber maverick inline six auto and have overwhelmed myself with projects and im looking to sell the mav. it has normal rust damage on front lip of hood under battery poast and rusted through cross member, needs front floor pan repair as it has rust holes, needs the brakes to be reworked master cylinder and drum repair. it is a 100 % legit grabber with grabber hood, skinny bumpers dovetail spoiler and grabber decal. vin # has been checked to verify. it has original blue paint and black leather interior. engine runs fine but it needs a water pump do to wear. trans and rear are fine as well i originally was asking $1,500 for it and decided i was asking to much becous it had a inline six and lowered the price to $1,100 yet noone wants to pay more then $600 dollars for it or just wants parts off of it like bumpers and hood and what not and they are only offering me like 50 dollars for the hood and stuff. am i still asking to much? or not enough?

Pictures and an honest description of the car would help the brain trust here answer your questions. If it's a decent car that runs and drives $1500 isn't out of line. How much rust does it have?

You should create an ad here in the classified forums with some pictures if you are trying to sell it here. Without pictures it is too hard to speculate on a value, but I don't see you having a problem selling it whole to someone that has a decent knowledge of Mavericks and there problem areas. It is also true that you can make money off the decent parts and scrap the rest, but that takes lots of time and skill too, besides destroying what might be a restorable car. (again, pictures would help decide this).

floor pans have rust holes about 3 1/2 inches long, cross member under battery side has been rusted through. front lip of hood has rust damage but not exstensively to the point of not being able to repair it, possible rust damage in cowl is a guess for the rust on the floor but not sure. small 4 inch to 3 inch patch of minor surface rust on roof, hood, deck lid and side window trim. 6 inch minor dent in driver side front fender and front of hood. NEEDS>> seat belts, bench seat springs as they are worn, fuses and bulbs for lights and accessories such as radio blinker gauge lights, drum brakes need repair do to there age. they work but you have to put it to the floor witch is do to needing a brake master cylinder and lines bled. vacume line that runs from carb to transmission and the rusted through crossmember below battery needs to be repaired witch just takes a new crossmember and some welding and cutting. rear bumper has a slight curve but can be repaired easily windows are crackless doors open very well with minimal noice and are solid as a rock, windows crank smoothly rear quarters are solid as well as entire trunk and rear assembly. head liner is in good shape minus being detatched in a few small spots do to someone replacing the windows. windows were put on with clear silicone witch was done by original owner to save money but the seals around the windows are rustless and solid. carpet needs to be replaced do to holes on front driver side. engine runs smooth but needs a water pump. transmission shifts good with no noise. most of the problems listed are problems any 44 year old car would have with all origonal parts.

will do man.. thank you.. i had it in local adds on facebook, vci.net and a maverick page with detailed pictures of all damage on the car plus the good parts. i dont want to part it out becouse it would be just another grabber maverick parted out and scraped in a junkyard that could have been restored to its formal glory. Its just hard not to be discouraged when i know the car is worth over 1500 as it sits and im selling it for 1100 and people are telling me i want to much for it. i know from experience that you run in to people that just want somthing for nothing so they can flip it and make a profit but im looking for somone who wants to build it. not sell it.

You can link the facebook pictures using the image link - it's in the posting tool bar next to the smiley face - looks like a box with mountains in it.

It even asked ME to login... not sure why. Once I added my username and password, it took me right to it.
