oil fill cap

    does anyone know what type of gasket was used on the oil fill cap, this is on a 1972 200 valve cover,mine is just on there without one,is this how it should be or is there supposed to be a gasket.

    They came with a thick paper gasket. It looks like the gasket was there before the ears were rivet to the cap

    1972 Comet GT clone 306 . 1969 Fairlane Cobra 428CJ 1988 T-Bird awaiting 331 ..
    Get some gasket material and make one...

    Possibly will need to make two, cut them and slip in place, use RTV or similar to "glue" them back together... Place splits at 180* apart...

    I cut a thin cross section of radiator hose. Worked real well.

    I ended up using cork gasket material, thanks for everyone s opinions
