I am new to Ford ownership. I have never owned until yesterday. I now have a 1970 Maverick project and have a few questions about things as everything is a little different than other companies. I currently have the inline 6 with 3 speed auto and am swapping it for a 408 CI stroker and C-4 trans. I am looking to see if a 1976 mustang cobra 2 front end and subframe will fit under this as I have the ability to get the whole front with wheel wells for free along with an 8.8 posi rear with 4:10 gears. The car itself is in great shape and pretty straight just needs some TLC. I definitely love the looks of the Maverick and there are none here in the town I live in that I have seen. So I definitely love having something different.
Welcome from Southern Idaho! I would highly recommend just ordering a new Mustang II front end kit. Many builders out there for them.
welcome the new mII kits have come WAY down in price you can find them in the back of hotrod magazines for around $1500
Welcome to the Maverick world here on the world wide web. Get the kit....brand new parts engineered to fit your car.
from Atlantic Canada! There may not be any visible Mavericks in your neighbourhood, but there are tons of members on here from Ohio in general. The MCCI is also very active in that neck of the woods.
from a fellow 1970 owner in Northeast Pennsylvania The stock Mustang II front end will be a horrible fit in a Maverick - I have an aftermarket Mustang II kit in mine
I thought you had an aftermarket...rack and pinion for a Maverick... in yours... if it was an...aftermarket Mustang II kit...it would be for a...Mustang...and you said "that will be a horrible fit in a Maverick"... LOL
I believe Bob is saying that his is an aftermarket Mustang II kit for a Maverick and not the stock Mustang II that he is advising not to try and reuse. The new ones are all called Mustang II kits now as general terms. He bought his from Full Tilt Street Rods.
maybe the one from Full Tilt Street Rods is a mustang II kit, the one from R&C is a Maverick rack and pinion kit...it won't fit a Mustang II. why not call them...rack and pinion kits, why Mustang II kits... are Mustang IIs the only other car with rack and pinion...
I agree with you Frank they should call them rack and pinion kits but.... that is what the market has done by calling them Mustang II kits.
