Well hopefully i can save it from the blow by without putting new rings in..... Yeah 300rwhp is fun but 300rwhp with a 150hp worth a nitrous is just stupid fun
Makes one wonder how all these new vehicles with synthetic in engines from factory manage to break in...
I agree. If you have a good round bore and the proper surface finish on the walls, it should seal up on the hot test.
Well im hoping for the best. Dang i wonder what the machine shop cost would be to take it apart and re ring it and put it all back together......ouch lol
as rotor mentions above.. it's all about the bore finish. Then add the "thinner than ever OEM" rings being used with improved ring metallurgy and things are not even remotely what they used to be. Most of the motors I build these days(almost all have roller cams) are broken in and sealed up after the first few hard WOT runs. Many other builders I know don't even change the oil out and simply change the filter, and even then it's mainly done for inspection purposes. I myself don't have that much faith or optimism in all things mechanical in nature, so I change out the whole works, cut the filter for inspection, and then move onwards to synthetic after a few hundred miles of "spirited driving". As to the threads title question.. wide-band by a country mile because it gives you a tuning viewpoint you wouldn't have otherwise(reading plugs only gets you so far and is very time consuming to say the least). Plus, you can dial a tune in fairly closely to make dyno tuning cheaper and more productive in the long run. Better baseline tune = more runs for less money. Can be swapped to other vehicles and keeps a motor safer too. Pretty busy today in the shop, but I can tell you how to seal that motor up quicker if you'd like to give me a call sometime through the day. You still have my number? PS. I can post it here if you'd like but it's controversial and likely to muddy up your thread with the usual "everyone's an expert" rhetoric.
Groberts i dont think i have your number anymore. And i would love to call you about sealing this thing up. My number is 910 467 6674 if u want to call me or send me your number. And rotor there would be no way i would spray it without it being sealed up.
