Does anyone have information as to what was included in an equipment feature designated as a "Handling Suspension"? My 1972 Comet was built with a 302 engine, D70X14 Belted White Sidewall Tires and a Handling Suspension plus other options. I tried a search of the site but couldn't find any information. It might be spelled out in a sales brochure.
Near heard of "handling Supension" but my 72 comet gt 302 has " country ride suspension" and I thought that meant 4 rear leafs but when Paul and I looked at it you could see were someone had added a 4th leaf.
My 71 Comet GT that I bought new was ordered with the handling suspension package. Came with 4 leaf rear springs and a bigger sway bar. I ordered it myself. AM FM radio, smallest tires and wheels because I new that was the first thing to go. Handling suspension package. 302, C4 no air cond. no power steering. $2888.00.
All Mavericks/Comets had "Handling Suspension". They all handled terrible. There are several upgrades available to make these cars handle better than they did from the factory.
I always thought the 4-leaf option was a tow package, and that the bigger sway-bar option became available in '75. Maybe it was a Comet option only.
I parted out a '73 4dr V8 Mav a while back and the original sales invoice said "heavy duty suspension". It had the larger swaybar and 4 leaf springs.
