I have no access to my car right now. I'm ordering an integral PS box for the comet. I just need to know if the end is tapered or straight. It's for a 71, thx guys. Carry on.

As I recall, my change over to intergral box, my pitman arm was/is straight.

I'll update this thread when I have some miles on it (might be a while). Pedro at ABS brakes is going to setup a Maverick/Comet specific integral steering box. So that means adios PS ram.

So, would this be another alternative to the Borgeson unit?

The factory power steering on my Comet was the most frustrating on-going mechanical misadventure ever. Couldn't wait to take it off the car.

Yes, it will be an alternative. I was going to order a mustang box but Pedro said the mounting holes are a little wider on the Mav/Comet and he'd redo the mounting holes so It would be a bolt on deal.

A local shop uses it in their auto x car and are very successful. They also sell a kit for mustangs but I'm making my own. Here's a little video of them talking about it (they call it the Mod kit).

Interested in seeing how this works out. I have the Borg setup; still have not got the caster out where they specify and the tracking is not quite where I wud like it to be. I plan to work on the suspension this week, making upgrades and getting the caster out where mfg stipulates. I will say, I am pleased not to have fluid leaking and hoses running all over the place. Also, no more power ram or drop bracket w/ the potiental of breaking " happened to me".
Going to be watching how it works out and looking for lots of pic's.

Which pump did you go with?

GM style that comes w/ the setup as a kit. I don't think much of their customer service and instructions are pretty much non-existant. I like the GM style cuz of it's compact size. Does your car have AC?

No AC at the moment, but I would like to add an aftermarket unit at some point. I also have a Vortech S trim going on in a couple months after I get the Fitech EFI set up. So room might be non existent at that point. The KRC pump has a detachable tank that can be moved if it gets in the way.

What is a KRC pump and Vortech S trim? Northern probably don't get heat and humidity like we get in the Chicago area.
The Borg box fit's really close to the firewall -- had to cut a corner from the base plate mounting on inside of the car. I may have to fab something to move the plate 1/4" away from the firewall to keep the rag joint front penetrating the foam insulation -- don't want exhaust and heat in thd pass compartment. The pitman fit perfectly will only fit in a few positions.

KRC is a company that makes cast and aluminum power steering pumps and Vortech is a company that makes superchargers. The S trim is a model from Vortech.

Ok - Got it. Will be following the progress regularly. Interested in seeing what box they use and how it fits compared to what I have.

Here's what's replacing the old power ram. I still have to take the old box out and mick up the new stuff. So some changes will occur from what you see in the photo. I believe the late 60's fairlane box is the same as the Mav/Comet box.

It looks the same -- Is that a Borg conversion box? Have you machined the pittman arm where it connects to the box?
Interested in seeing pix when U get it installed. I had to modify my inside firewall steering column plate slightly, cutting a small amount to keep the rag joint from binding there.
