Will do Chip! They are doing it today, after the Chevy guy's "blah, blah, blah, buy an ls" speach.

They will announce the route probably Februaryish. It all depends on the end destination for me also. If it's within about 10hrs, I can probably do it.

Well, really wasn't a long hauler "ceremony" more of a bum rush to the certificate and sign.

    Hi Will :
Yeah.. I've noticed a trend in the last couple of HRPT's that the officials ( parking , etc. ) seem to be very
disinterested .. ( maybe it's because we don't drive chevys ??) The guys and girls that comprise the actual TOUR
and their cars are cool .. It's just the people that handle the traffic flow that aggravate "me" .. In St.Louis last year I had a lady tell me to " turn in here " .. it was a Dead End , and I had to backtrack to get back into the proper flow to
park at the event .. They must hire people from " Rent-A-Dummy" or something .. Hmmmmmm .. Anyway ..glad you made the tour safely . Hope to see you next tour .

I made the long haul again this year. I met Will (finally), grabbergt, guys in gold maverick in Wichita, and one more guy in KC. I am terrible with names, sorry. Great time again, except for the heat. Ole mav brakes were a bear to say the least. Definitely going to do a disc brake upgrade soon! Not sure if I will go next year, but I said that last year about this year. Need a good family vacation, I can't get them to go on tour with me...no AC..lol. Only time will tell. Great making new friends and touring with my group again.

Wish I could join you Chip. Glad to see you are still into these cars. I'd love to see a picture of your new maverick. I still have many pictures of your comets from Florida shows. I'll get back into the game someday. Just looking for thr right car. Most of them up here have rust issues and they want to much for them.

Yep ! There are STILL some great Maverick and Comet ' finds ' out there ..I just refuse to believe otherwise. We just have to seek them out .. When you DO get back into it you are ahead of the game with your previous experience.
I'll post some photos of the Maverick when I'm completely done .. It's proven to be a 'keeper' so far .. Just installed a 3.55 Eaton Posi with Richmond Gears and it really ' woke it up ' .. The engine is a 'bone stock' 5.0 with stock fuel injection and a 5 speed T5 . I built THIS one for the HRPT . So far , I'm satisfied with its performance.
Keep in touch .. my email is cameocarlub@yahoo.com .
