Here's a pic of my newest (and last I swear) toy. 76 Comet. Nice interior, not bad for rust. Got it it home on a trailer. Would turn the key and get nothing. Replaced the solenoid and it started to crank. Eventually turned over and ran for a bit before I shut it off. Next day went out to fire it up. Engine tried to turn but eventually stopped and went straight to a rapid clicking noise. Not sure what else to try. Maybe I got a bad solenoid. Battery is good. I'll check the wires and grounds later in the weekend.

What you describe now sounds like a drained battery.

Yep. Put a new battery in it. Took some work but after some gas and starter fluid fired right up. Still got some work to do but nice to hear it running.
