Hey folks, So I have myself in a bit of a pickle. The Mav was in a slightly fender bender, and the front bumper received a nasty ding right in the middle. I was going to bring it up to Northstar plating and have them fix it, but they are 13 weeks out! To make matters worse, the car is supposed to be at the summer nationals car show in about a month with the whole family. Anyone have a bumper they can sell? Otherwise does anyone know of where else to get it rechromed in a realistic time frame? I have a call into southern bumper, but no word on them yet. Thanks a million! Chris
I don't see any chrome shop worth a darn that would be slow enough this time of year to get it done in time for you. I do know some chrome shops, if you pay extra, will move you to the front of the line.
Call Bumper Boyz and see if they have one in stock. I wouldn't have them replate yours, but they might be able to supply you one in time, and then just sell it on ebay when you get yours back from the good shop. http://www.bumperboyz.com/
Thanks, yeah I've heard some bad things about bumperboyz. I guess I never figured it would take that long. I'm hoping I can still find a decent one used in time.
Yes, their reputation isn't the greatest. They were at the Jefferson show a few years back and I was able to pick through their selection on the semi-truck they take to the show, and I did find some decent ones. My thought was, get one from them out of their stock supply to get you through the summer until yours is replated. Then sell the BBz one on ebay to get your money back.
Tri Cities Plating website in Tennessee shows they have one in stock. $325 with exchange. $395 without.
That is a very good price without a core. Tri-City did the bumpers on my '70 Grabber - their work is 1st class and they stand behind it should there be an issue later with pits showing up.
