Hi everyone, I have a 351w in my maverick it has no ac system parts with it but does have power steering. I dont want to put money into an ac system so am trying to find the correct ac delete bracket so that my power steering bolt can mount into it. Right now when I slide the long bolt through the power steering pump it just hits the block with nothing to thread into. All brackets I have found seem to be for serpentine but I'm running v belt. Any info is appreciated. I use poor man's ac (windows down speed up!)
The long power steering bolt should thread right into the head.....with about a one inch spacer to take the place of where the AC bracket was.
This ^^ (maybe) All the P/S brackets for 302 are same but with taller block, may not bolt up correctly on a 351. Probably what you need is the 351 water pump to P/S pump bracket(non Maverick part ), bracket on pump should be same for either engine.
Craig do you happen to have a pic of that set up. Kraft comet do you have a pic of power steering bracket, maybe I have wrong bracket.
I'll look but I'm 99% only water pump to P/S brackets I have are for early 302/289 amd FE big blocks. Even on those, pump brackets are same. What the 351 bracket does is raise(or maybe lower) pump so the long P/S bolt will align into head. Bolt is in upper hole on my Comet, possibly 351 bracket lowers it enough to align with lower hole, I dunno. You'll still need approx 1" spacer between pump bracket and head. AFAIK anything past early '80s isn't going to fit correctly. Alternately you could use a piece of rectangular 1" flat steel that bolts to head and is long enough to thread the long pump bolt into. This is my setup, same as with A/C, I added spacer behind pump bracket. BTW I did check, only one I have that aligns with 289/302/351 water pump is same as I'm using.
