Steering box fitment

Has anyone had any issues putting the steering box back into a Maverick with a 302 and hooker 6901 headers? I just can’t seem to squeeze it in... do the headers need to be loosened to get it in? Thanks

 

Steering box should be on car before headers.

 

No, I just removed a steering gear from a 71 Comet GT with 6901’s to make room for a Unisteer kit. We had to remove the Z-bar and pitman arm and it came out the top, it’s a very tight fit but it came out.

 

Took alittle maneuvering but we got it by taking the headers off slightly and it slid in very tight.

 

Paints a picture plain as day....
