    Good morning everyone,

I am changing out the carb gasket on the Comet. First time doing this. Was wondering if you should, or should not, use some black gasket sealant on the intake or the bottom of the carb when installing the gasket?

    What have you all done..................

    Thanks!

Those crab gaskets work pretty good without sealer. Now lobster gaskets on the other hand...

Luke on Thunderhead289 coats his carb gaskets with chassis grease. I've seen him pull off gaskets that had been in use four or five years, then reuse them.

I was going to suggest this .... LOL

Seriously, if a dry gasket doesn't seal the carb to the intake, start looking at pitting of the intake surface or make sure it is flat. I had a corroded carb spacer that made one car run terrible until it warmed up.
