Just joined by have been following since inheriting a 1970 Maverick from my wife's grandfather last year. Sentimental for her, and for me as I was brought home from the hospital in a '70 Maverick. Needs a complete refurbish as it has sat covered for nearly 40 years in Arizona, so actually not in too bad shape. Had shipped to Miami and have my 13 and 15 year old sons to help me. I know nothing about cars, so i how this forum is helpful!!
Since you say you "know nothing about cars"....you have a long road ahead of you. After sitting 20 years....the car will need everything gone through. Hopefully you have a check book and a credit card.
nice example of typical '70 , has the mighty small block six 200 or 170 with an AC power zapper on it - at least you can use AC in Fla. - 3 OTT or automat'?. . 40 years in AZ probably not as bad as two salty winters in 'up NY state. . would expect any important rubber parts need to be inspected and determined. . a few squirts marvel mystery smell down the cyls, fresh oil (flat tappet usable), filter and a small fuel tank like a mowers' hooked right to carb (safest until lines and tank determined') and you're ready for the B+ and start it cranking - see what happens or crawls out ... . have fun . . . . typical '76 in NY . . BUT - Mavs' 200 still runs 100% - handy for proofing .
