I finally got the exhaust on my (302) 4-door the way I like it. If some of you may recall I had a shop put on dual ex. in the fall. During which their pipe bender failed. The car sat all winter and I started driving it again about 3 weeks ago. The sound of the dual flowmasters dumped under the car was driving me CRAZY . I finally took it to a new shop and had them take out one of the 2 mufflers (flowmaster 50series 2.25") and "Y" it similar to stock but with 2.25 pipe. then over the axle with a single 2.5" tailpipe that I had them turn down and slash cut right at the edge of the valance. It sounded better, quieter, better power than the duals or factory. I never liked the look of the exhaust tips out the back so I am happy with the results. Since the power level of the car will not likely exceed 200hp I am sure it will work nicely even with some mods.
Hey, as long as YOU are happy with it, then it cannot be wrong, right?? Glad you got the results that you wanted, cause that's what this is all about. Preston
thanks for the post.. i am (was) getting reary to dump my flos under the car. after what you said i don't think so...i want them quiter than they are now...running out the back.. any suggestions on "quite" ...frank...
if you just sit in the car and don't turn the key to start, it'll be quieter frank. oh, and you'll be thrilled with the gas mileage.
It won't be quieter because Frank sits in the car makes those "uhnuhunh uhnuhunh" enigne noises. And, somethimes ghe pretends he's driving a fire truck and goes ding ding for the bell (Frank's old - his fire trucks still have bells).
Didn't see you and I'm not sure it would've mattered anyway. I couldn't pass that one up. (Besides, don't sass your dad, Son.)
Yes sir!! I can definitely help you out. What you do is "SEND THE FLOWMASTERS TO ME SO I CAN PUT THEM ON MY CAR" Then if you follow Mr. Don Graham's advice you are sure to have a quiet car. Let me know when you are ready for my address. Preston :bananaman
