I put 3:80 gears in a while back, and yes the car is quick, but man not good for the highway (or gas) So I'm going to try 3:55s ,anyone have a thought on that?

Tom, I went from 4:11 to a 3:70 gear on mine. Very happy with mine but it seldom sees any highway. The 3:55 should give you enough difference to still give you a good measure of quickness, but a few less rpm's on the road. Good all around gear in my opinion.

    I lke my 3.55s, and I wouldn't go any deeper on a highway-driven car...

I love my 3:55 for "quickness" and general short distance driving. On the highway it is just "ok". RPMs are a bit higher than I'd like. It really needs another gear which I hope to solve by adding an AOD sometime in the near future. Good luck.

If you go AOD, be warned, I get better milage running 70 @ 2100ish RPMs than I do running 55-65. I will not go for anything less than 3.55 rear, I'm looking at 3.80 or better.

If you go non lockup, this might not be the case...

If your "hi-way" driving exceeds 60,and you don't have an overdrive, better get some 3.00's.
