I'm wiring a 12v socket for a cell phone charger, since I don't smoke. My '71 did not have the option, I was looking under the dash and found a wire similar to the blue/white one in my '77, is the blue/red wiring for the cig. lighter?

I saw that same thing on the wiring diagram for my 70, but I don't have a blue/white wire. I have a blue/red with a 90* rubber boot that would push on the back of the cigarette lighter.

The blue/white was the always on for the cig. lighter, the blue/red was switched with the lights for the accessory lights, thanks guys.

Ohh, well there is no smokeing in my car. :tsk:

I use my ash tray as a place to keep change. Very handy when you need a quarter going though the drive up at Burger King or somewhere. (y)

Pretty sure there was an option called "Convenience Light Group" which included engine compartment, trunk and ashtray lights ....

I assume it would be an additional harness ran at the factory if it was ordered .. not sure if it was even an option in 1970. My guess would be that it would have connected to the Accessory post on the Fuse Panel ...

The wiring diagrams show a wire. I am told it is over the left rear fenderwell. I will have to crawl in there and take a look. I have the correct light.

I doubt its there ... just remove your sill plate and see if there is an additoinal wire run to the back besides the normal taillight harness. The factory rear defogger harness was run alongside the taillight harness ... I assume the trunk light wire would be the same ...
